When you first become a parent of a child, many things will start changing. You may begin to view things differently; some things that annoy you because you do not understand when you don't have a child may become clearer to you. One of the things could be a baby leash.
This thing had been called many names but it is usually referred to as a baby leash by most people. It may sounds unpleasant but it definitely works well for most parents. Before I had children of my own, I thought that the baby leash is demeaning and humiliating to the child.
Obviously I still do not know what I am talking about until I had my own children. Now I know it I s a good idea. If you could exercise control over your child when walking down a street anywhere, you do not need a baby leash at all.
However if you are going to a big place or where there are hundreds of people, the baby leash may be your best option. If you know that your child likes to run around on their own, a baby leash is what you need in order to know where your child is at all times. You know that it will keep the child safely at your side.
Please do not do what some parents have done, the baby leash is for a child not a dog. Do not pull or jerk unnecessarily at the child. You may want to do that to a dog but not to a child.
If you are buying a baby leash, get one that is sturdy but yet comfortable. When the occasion arises, do not be afraid to use it. For example safety is compromised in a large shopping centre. It is very easy to for a child to get lost quickly in a big crowd. You would be separated from him in a split second.
When I first used it at a shopping mall, I felt sorry for him at first. I felt like I am walking my dog. Everyone seems to be staring at me. After fifteen minutes or so, we all got used to it and the trip felt less stressful for us. We were enjoying ourselves and he felt safe with me.
In reality, it may feel like putting your baby on a leash. If you care enough to prevent your dog from running into the traffic, would not you want to protect your child too? It only takes a second for your child to disappear or even be taken away by someone else even if you are watchful.
In conclusion, let other people stare at me as long as I know my child will be safe with me even if I have to use the baby leash when needed.
